Art Lead - Miss Jones and Miss Cooke

At Waterside Primary Academy, our intention in Art is to convey a greater understanding and knowledge of artistic skills and influential artists through time.

We aim for our children to develop their artistic skills and broad knowledge through our progressive and carefully sequenced curriculum throughout their time at the school whilst covering the knowledge and skills stated in the National Curriculum. During their time at Waterside Primary Academy, we aspire for our lessons and Pathways to inspire our pupils to think and act as creative and expressive artists.

Through our high-quality teaching we will develop the following skills and knowledge:

• Use materials to design and make products
• Use drawings, paintings and sculpture to develop and share ideas, experiences and imagination
• Develop a wide range of Art & Design techniques using colour, pattern, texture, line, shape, form and space
• Create sketches to record their observations  Use a range of resources and materials including clay, charcoal, paint, pencil and fabric
• Develop a wide and deep knowledge of inspirational artists through history and up to modern day
